8-Week Police Officer Martial Arts Training Program Goal:
To improve control tactics, situational awareness, physical conditioning, and non-lethal engagement skills for law enforcement professionals.
Week 1: Foundation & Stance Focus: Posture, footwork, and balance
Neutral stance and tactical positioning
Movement drills (forward, backward, lateral)
Basic falling techniques (breakfalls)
Introduction to combative mindset
and verbal Jujutsu Conditioning: Core strength and mobility work.
Why it matters: Poor footwork leads to loss of control. Officers must move efficiently under stress.
Week 2: Control Tactics – Grips & Holds Focus: Joint manipulation, grip escapes, and positional control
Wrist grabs and escapes
Standing control holds (escort positions, arm bars)
Basic leverage concepts
Partner drills with progressive resistance
Conditioning: Grip strength, isometric holds.
Why it matters: Poor footwork leads to loss of control. Officers must move efficiently under stress.
Week 3: Ground Control & Defensive Positioning Focus: How to survive and control on the ground
Mount, side control, and guard positions
Positional escapes and reversals
Defensive posture from bottom
Takedown recovery drills
Conditioning: Explosive drills and floor-based endurance
Why it matters: Many real-world altercations end on the ground—officers must dominate this space
Week 4: Takedowns & Arrest Mechanics Focus: Safely taking down a non-compliant subject
Basic takedowns (hip toss, single leg, body lock)
Clinch work against the wall
Transition to handcuffing positions
Multiple-officer coordination drills
Conditioning: Anaerobic bursts and dynamic strength
Why it matters: Controlled takedowns prevent injury and create arrest opportunities.
Week 5: Defensive Striking & De-escalation Focus: Strategic striking, distance management, and communication
Palm strikes, elbows, knees (no closed-fist punching)
Verbal de-escalation under pressure
Verbal de-escalation under pressure
Use of force decision-making under stress
Conditioning: Striking pads and cardio circuits
Why it matters: The ability to manage space and escalate only when necessary is vital.
Week 6: Weapon Retention & Disarm Focus: Retaining duty belt weapons in close quarters
Retention in standing and ground positions
Gun/knife disarm basics
Stress drills with training weapons
Real-world scenarios (vehicle stops, crowds)
Conditioning: Simulated stress rounds (burpees, sprints, drills)
Why it matters: If you carry it, you must protect it. Retention saves lives
Week 7: Scenario Week – Real-World Simulation Focus: Applying skills under real-time pressure
High-fidelity scenario training with role players
Domestic calls, suspect resistance, surprise attacks
Solo officer and team-based entries
Controlled chaos drills (verbal + physical)
Conditioning: Circuit training between scenarios
Why it matters: Pressure reveals weaknesses—this is where you harden the skills.
Week 8: Evaluation & Stress Testing Focus: Performance assessment and readiness under fatigue
Technical evaluation (takedowns: jujutsu and mma , control, escapes)
Scenario test with graded response
Partner drills with elevated heart rate
Officer wellness: Recovery, injury prevention, mindset talk
Final conditioning: Physical and mental endurance test
Why it matters: Officers leave confident, skilled, and ready for real-world encounters.
